- Think Like a Minimalist
Most of the bedroom furniture on the market isn’t really needed. A bench at the foot of the bed, a vanity table, or a huge armoire, for example, may look good in a magazine, but in the ordinary household, all that furniture will make a room feel claustrophobic. If you have a tiny apartment, keep it simple by only bringing in what you need. Aside from the bed, all you probably need in your bedroom is a bedside table and somewhere to put your clothes. You can also make furniture do double duty, such as using a dresser next to your bed as a nightstand and as a place to store your clothing.
- Keep Your Nightstand Clear
It’s easy to develop clutter in a tiny bedroom with minimal furniture by stacking different things on your nightstand. Just use a nightstand with drawers for concealed storage to prevent this. Limit the number of objects on the surface to two or three—a candle, a box of tissues, and a small dish to carry jewellery, for example. To save space on your nightstand, you can also put a bedside lamp on the wall next to your bed.
- Use the Space Under Your Bed
If your bed has under-bed storage, this is a perfect place to store out-of-season clothing. This will assist with the decluttering of your wardrobe and board. Just make sure the area under your bed is clean and dust-free. To keep things tidy and sorted, use large, flat plastic storage boxes with lids. Luggage, gift wrap, toys, linens, and books are some other things to consider keeping under your bunk, in addition to clothes.
- Establish a Decluttering Routine
The cleaning process doesn’t end until you’ve removed all of the excess furniture and objects from your apartment. Even if you don’t have much stuff to begin with, the smaller the space, the quicker it can get cluttered. As a result, it’s critical to establish a daily organising schedule. At least once a week, go through your room and put away clothing and clear out any garbage that has accrued, such as receipts or food cans.
- Use Vertical Space
Since small bedrooms usually have small closets and few other storage options, you’ll have to get creative about how you organise your belongings. Using shelving, hanging organisers, and other related pieces, try to maximise vertical space. Try installing a rack above the clothes bar in your wardrobe for folded-clothes storage if you don’t already have one. For still more hanging storage, add hooks to the backs of your wardrobe and bedroom doors.
- Keep Shoes in One Place
You don’t have to keep your heels in your bedroom while the rest of your clothes are. In reality, if you have a hall closet or other storage room near to your front door, keeping your shoes there is always more convenient. This allows you to free up valuable storage space in your tiny bedroom. If you wish to carry shoes in your bedroom, pack them neatly and in one location rather than strewn about. Use a shoe organiser that can be hung on the back of a door to keep your shoes organised. Alternatively, put your shoes in a plastic container that you can quickly slip under your bunk.
